The Unprocessed Post: Eating Rules Blog Find

I really like this blog, Eating Rules.  Andrew Wilder started his food journey as a vegetarian teenager, gains the 20 'somethings' weight during college and has a wake up call when considering online dating.  He had also read Michael Pollan's books.  Here are some of Andrew's rules:
"When you eat grains, eat only 100% whole grains.  Don’t eat high fructose corn syrup.  Don’t eat hydrogenated oils, trans fats, or anything that’s been deep-fried.  If you can follow all three of these rules consistently, you’re most of the way to beating the system of the American Diet. It’s not easy, but it is simple."
Nicely boiled down and similar to Michael Pollan's "Eat food.  Not too much.  Mostly plants."

I am not sure why we find quick fix diets that possess the depth the subtly of Kim Kardashian our health solution.  I get annoyed when Dr. Oz picks 5 seemingly obscure "nutrient's" that will cure us of our lack of physical activity.  However, if he were hiring a dietitian for the show, I'd throw my resume out there ($$).

Real food activists are the main staying power despite the loads of diets.  They're not home delivered and they're not out to change the tornatic 'nutrition' climate which proves to be as volatile for our health as a hurricane is to a coastal region.

But as Americans, we want to have it all, do it all, and have a status about it.

So get out and cook.
