I drove back to Pennsylvania for the weekend to celebrate by grandmother's 94th birthday (it's tomorrow). Friday night was calling for an ice storm which we did get so I drove home immediately after work and listened to The Splendid Table's weekly podcasts. I'm pretty sick of salad at this time of year as nothing is in season as we're all seasonally depressed by this time and no one's clothes fit except for that mu-mu. As I was listening to Anna Thomas, author of Eating Well she described a similar bleak situation of winter-body blues as the basis of her soup, Basic Green Soup. It's quite low in Calories, ~50 per serving. Eat more of this, less of most other naughty things and you should be closer to skinny jeans and swimsuit season.
